I always try to make sure I only boil the right amount of water for tea - imagine how many times people boil 5 cups worth for 1 cup all over the world every few hours?! Kettles, like ovens, use a lot of energy so they’re a prime target for making savings.

Curiously, at work there’s a politeness policy of filling the kettle up for the next person, which means people always have to boil about 10 cups of cold water for each cup of tea and the choice is taken away from you (you can’t pour the water away!). Positively changing these tiny social habits could have a big impact.
