Comments on: Re-use paper for kids’ drawings

Reuse is great solution to reduce energy and resource use. I don’t know why we are in developed countries can’t use daily news papers for wrapping fish and chips…sort of things. (may be due to health reasons…) But I know in developing worl we do reuse lot of papers and even glass bottles. (can you imagine the amount of Beer bottles go in to recycle bin…we can save a heap amont of energy and resources by reusing them.

Is any body know these types of reusing campaigns or policies in Developed Countries…….

Not having kids a very simplistic solution to a complex problem. It’s like the strategy of taking guns away only to learn that people will still find ways to kill each other. Look at what happens after reproduction that the causes the consumption problem. It’s not the existence of people that is the problem but how we exist. We could spend the next 20 years not breeding only to wiped out by a world war. You have the choice and the right to produce children that aren’t consumers. Teach your kids to grow up being environmental activists that are against consumption and who fight for the species who can’t fight for themselves. Then you can experience the joy of children in your life

I hate to be a party-pooper, but in a ‘kids’ section on this website surely the first topic should be titled ‘Don’t Have Any.’

Having a child = producing another consumer.

If the wasted paper keeps piling up, why not print more vital stuff on the other side before taking it home for the kids to scribble on? At our house we have mountains of one sided used paper that my mother-in-law snaffled from her work back in the 1980’s. We try to only use a fresh sheet of paper when we are printing a document for submission. Records of articles and useful information don’t need to be on perfect paper if they’re only for our own reference. My partner started doing this in her student days. It took me a while to defeat that little monster that says “Every copy must be perfect, I can’t love it if I know there’s printing on the other side” but in the end logic prevailed.
You know how everytime you do that first printing of a document you suddenly notice all the errors? Save that copy for your next first printing of something.

Toy libraries are also an excellent way of not having to buy loads of toys for your kids. The toy library I use runs out from my local library and has a nice range of things to play with.
