Do you know a place doing something good for the environment - perhaps a local park, organic grocer, eco-friendly cafe, or local recycling depo - then why not tag it as a “CoolSpot” and let others know about it.
To tag your photo - upload it to Flickr and add the tag “coolspot”. You can also mark it on a map using Flickr’s “add this to a map” function, to make it easier for other people to find in real life.
We’ve set up a CoolSpot group on Flickr - join up to add photos to the group and to join the discussion about the CoolSpots featured.
By doing so, you are helping promote places and people that are doing good things for the future of our “human habitat”.

While not exactly a public spot I’d like to point out the place I work as being pretty good about recycling. I working in the operating theatres of a very busy Sydney hospital. We seperate our rubbish, and we produce ALOT of it everyday. Every theatre in our department has a paper and plastic recycling bin, and I must say everyone is good about doing thier part to seperate and recycle. St. Vincent’s is a well known and very good hospital and their efforts to help the environmnet are another reason I’m happy to be working with them.
Thought I’d say that while Solar power is great, there’s one big problem: It isn’t perpetual (including cloud cover etc). Something people might like to get involved in (for Australia anyway) is the idea of Geothermal Power. There’s a major development process underway in South Australia which can easily power the whole of Australia with zero emissions. Get behind them now, and if you’re particularly fervent, harass the current government about more and better incentives to speed up this development.
www.geodynamics.com.au is only one of many solo exploration companies looking at producing this power by 2015. Hopefully it might be sooner
Go to google and search for geothermal power in south australia for a large listing of all involved…
pedal prix bikes are fantastic fun and great for the environment. If you don’t know what they are, they are bikes, except, you lie horizontally and pedal in front of you.
any way, they are really kool!!!!! (and expensive, AND you can’t buy them, you have to make them, soz!!!)
